🔥 Yan-Ning was awarded the Research Travel Grant from Cornell's Graduate School to support a visit for her dissertation-related research to the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in June. Story about this visit is covered by Cornell's Graduate School (and their Instagram).
Yan-Ning Kuo (2022)
Bio
I am Yan-Ning Kuo, from Taiwan. I am currently a Ph.D. candidate working with Flavio Lehner at Cornell University, with a major concentration in atmospheric science and minors in eco-hydrology and biogeochemistry. My dissertation focuses on using climate model large ensembles to tease out forced response for attributing regional changes (latest publications: Kuo et al., 2025 submitted; Kuo et al., 2025; Kuo et al., 2023). Before my Ph.D., I earned my B.S. in Atmospheric Sciences from National Taiwan University (NTU) in 2020. I worked on an honored thesis with Min-Hui Lo on how teleconnections of different types of extreme El Niños induce distinct global mean sea level anomalies (published as Kuo et al. 2021).
I am interested in understanding how Earth's water cycle responds to climate variability and change. Topics include mid-latitude climate dynamics, teleconnection, precipitation, sea levels, terrestrial water, land-atmospheric interactions, etc. Please see What I do for more details.
