This site exists as a final project for BIOEE 4530 "Speciation: Genetics, Ecology, and Behavior" at Cornell University, taught by Kerry Shaw. However, I hope this site can also serve as a great resource on both past and modern research on Strauzia, a wonderful genus of Fruit Flies (Diptera: Tephritidae) endemic to North America.
Sourced from Native-land.ca // Strauzia as a model organism for speciation can only be done ethically by recognizing the indigenous peoples who inhabited these lands before the colonial project of the United States. Above is a map showing many of the groups who lived / continue to live on native lands or reservations within the natural range of Strauzia.
