My research centers on emerging market economies, with a particular focus on development, real estate finance, financial economics, and the interaction between monetary and fiscal policy. I study how financial systems and policy frameworks shape economic performance and stability, especially within the dynamic and frequently volatile environments characteristic of emerging markets.
My papers have been published in leading peer-reviewed journals such as World Development, Energy Economics, Finance Research Letters, Emerging Markets Review, and the Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions & Money, among others.
I hold a Ph.D. in Economics from Cornell University and am currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Finance, Information Systems, and Economics at Lehman College, City University of New York. Prior to my current appointment, I held several senior positions at the Central Bank of Colombia, served on the faculty at Universidad de La Sabana, and worked as an external consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank.
