I am an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the School of Social Sciences, Singapore Management University.
My work examines how people and institutions are evaluated in education systems, how they cope with and respond to such evaluation, and what all this means for inequality and social mobility. My current projects are focused on the Singaporean education system, where I am leveraging recent changes in its evaluative practices to study what happens when a society tries to broaden its definition of “merit.”
