Frances Sobolak

PhD, Linguistics

I am a recent Linguistics Ph.D. grad from Cornell University. My theoretical interests include morphology, morphosyntax, and the syntax-semantics interface. Equally important to me is (i) a commitment to capacity-building and language revitalization efforts in Indigenous communities and (ii) higher education pedagogy.

I am a member and web admin of the Cornell Language Documentation Lab (CLDL). I am also a member of the University of British Columbia’s Salish Working Group (SWG), which focuses on Salish language linguistics, documentation, and fieldwork methodologies. Recently, I’ve joined a project headed by the Yukon Native Language Centre that aims to translate children’s books into First Nation languages spoken in the Yukon territory.

I am also putting together a Na Dene Working Group! Please contact me if you're interested in joining.
