The Cornell University Judo Club holds the distinction of being one of the oldest Judo clubs in the United States, founded by Raoul Sudre in 1958. With a rich history spanning over six decades, the club has played a large role in promoting the art and discipline of Judo within the Cornell community and beyond.
Through extensive research in the university archives, we recently uncovered early newspaper articles and yearbook photos that provide a fascinating glimpse into the club’s formative years. These historical materials not only highlight the club’s beginnings but also capture the enthusiasm and dedication of its early members, laying the foundation for the strong legacy that continues today.
