This group organizes informal outdoor walks based on observing signs of wildlife (tracks, scat, trails, feeding sign, etc.) in natural areas of upstate New York. Activities are educational and recreational in nature and are NOT guided tours, professional instruction, or outdoor survival training. Participation is voluntary and free of charge.
Adults only (18 years of age or older)
No pets allowed, including dogs
No exceptions
Participants should understand that these walks take place in natural environments that may include uneven terrain, wet or icy ground, wooded areas, and remote locations. Cell service may be limited or unavailable. This group is NOT a guiding service, rescue service, or emergency response organization. The role of the organizer is limited to coordinating meeting locations and sharing general information about the activity. Participants are responsible for their own actions and choices at all times.
Outdoor activities involve inherent risk that cannot be eliminated. These risks include, but are not limited to:
Slips, trips, and falls
Exposure to weather (cold, heat, rain, snow)
Insect bites (including ticks)
Contact with wildlife or plants (including poison ivy)
Limited access to medical assistance
BY CHOOSING TO PARTICIPATE, PARTICIPANTS KNOWINGLY AND VOLUNTARILY ASSUME ALL RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH THESE ACTIVITIES
Each participant is solely responsible for:
Their own safety and decisions at all times
Wearing seasonally appropriate clothing, including high-visibility attire (blaze orange) during hunting season
Assessing their physical ability to participate
Wearing appropriate clothing and footwear
Bringing sufficient water, food, navigation tools, and necessary medications
Following all applicable laws, park rules, and posted signage
Participants are expected to conduct themselves in a safe and respectful manner toward others, wildlife, and the environment
Participants acknowledge that they are participating at their own risk. This activity does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or emergency services. If you have medical concerns or conditions that may affect your ability to participate, consult a healthcare professional before attending.
Participants agree to:
Stay within the group and not wander off
Not disturb, feed, or harass wildlife
Not consume alcohol or illegal substances during activities
Respect private property and protected lands
Organizers reserve the right to ask anyone to leave who behaves unsafely or disruptively.
Walks may be modified, postponed, or canceled due to weather, trail conditions, or safety concerns. Participants are responsible for monitoring weather conditions and deciding whether to attend.
By participating in any activity associated with this group, participants agree to release and hold harmless the organizers, volunteers, and affiliated entities from any claims, liability, injury, illness, loss, or damage arising from participation, to the fullest extent permitted by New York law.
Participation constitutes acceptance of these terms.
