With an impressive career spanning nearly 30 years, Jose stands as a seasoned professional with extensive lobbying experience and a track record of success at senior levels of state and local governments. For over a decade, he served as a contract lobbyist, passionately representing private companies, public agencies, and non-profits before the 122 cities in Los Angeles and Orange Counties, as well as the California Legislature.
In his role as Chief of Staff for city council members and state legislators over 15 years, Jose honed his strategic insights and political acumen. His impact extends beyond individual roles, as in the late 90s, he played a pivotal role in consulting for the Latino Legislative Caucus, significantly contributing to the tripling of Latino representatives in the California Legislature.
Jose's legislative expertise spans diverse policy areas, including Technology, Public Safety, Transportation, Aviation, Land Use Planning, Gaming, and Budget. His keen parliamentary skills, political strategy, and uncanny ability to evaluate political and social trends have earned him recognition in the field.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jose has been actively involved in hundreds of political campaigns, showcasing his commitment to community service. His leadership extends to various community organizations, having chaired both the Los Angeles Unified School District’s Parent Advisory Committee and his local school’s site council. Notably, he served as a city commissioner in the 2010 Los Angeles City Redistricting Commission and the Presidents’ Joint Commission on LAUSD Governance.
Born in Oregon and raised in Northern California, Jose, alongside his wife and two children, have called Los Angeles home for more than 20 years, where they share their lives with their two rescued dogs."
