Isla Coronado is a professional flutist and educator committed to cultivating meaningful and accessible musical experiences through both solo and collaborative performance. She has participated in public masterclasses with distinguished flutists Nicole Esposito, Stephanie Jutt, and Marina Piccinini through the Marina Piccinini International Institute (MPI), and was a three-time finalist and winner of the 2023 Texas A&M University–Kingsville Concerto Competition. Isla has held principal flute positions with the Texas A&M University–Kingsville Wind Symphony and Symphony Orchestra, UW–Madison Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra, Madison Chamber Players, and Kingsville Winds, an ensemble dedicated to fostering music appreciation throughout South Texas. Her commitment to collaborative performance has also led to participation in the inaugural performances of both Madison Chamber Players and Kingsville Winds.
A passionate educator, Isla maintains an active hybrid private studio, teaching students from beginner through collegiate levels. She has served as a chamber music coach with the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra and as a flute instructor and guest artist at schools throughout South Texas. Through her teaching, she strives to foster critical and independent thinking, guiding students toward technical excellence, artistic confidence, and a lifelong appreciation for music.
Above all, Isla is passionate about expanding access to high-quality music education and takes pride in serving as a role model for students from historically underrepresented and under-resourced communities. Through mentorship, representation, and community engagement, she strives to help young musicians see themselves in classical music.
Isla is currently based in Baltimore, Maryland, where she is pursuing a Graduate Performance Diploma at the Peabody Institute, studying with Marina Piccinini. She earned a Master of Music in Flute Performance from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where she studied as an Advanced Opportunity Fellow, and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and Flute Performance from Texas A&M University–Kingsville, where she was named the university’s inaugural Presser Scholar in 2024.
