Year 5 Communication
Current Year 5 Newsletter
If your child is attending the Ingestre Hall residential in January, a set of forms has been sent home this week. Please could you complete the forms and return them to school ASAP and no later than Wednesday 7th January. (Please also note the last page is double-sided.)
We appreciate that some of the information is already known (e.g. your child's allergies). However, this is the formal paperwork issued at county level and we are obliged to collect a completed set of documents for each participant. Many thanks!
Year 5 Additional Information, Resources & Letters
Guidance on how to complete the spelling homework
Name written on the sheet.
Neat handwriting, written with a handwriting pen or a sharp pencil.
Capital letters and full stops on all sentences.
Words spelt accurately. (ESPECIALLY the focus spelling word!)
Check with an adult that the sentences all make sense and use the word correctly.
As well as learning the spelling of the word, we want the children to become familiar with its meaning so that they can confidently read it when they encounter it in other contexts and use it in their own writing, when appropriate. With this in mind, we are also happy for children to use the Internet or smart speakers to get sentence ideas.
Year 5 Photos & Videos
In Science, we have been learning about reversible and irreversible changes.
In this experiment, we mixed bicarbonate of soda with white vinegar.
When these two substances are mixed, a chemical reaction occurs and carbon dioxide gas is produced. This means an irreversible change has taken place.
Watch the video to see two of our Y5 pupils demonstrating the experiment. It just so happened to be the birthday of one of our demonstrators...what a unique way to blow out your birthday candles!
Rock and crystal observational drawing.
A diverse range of drawings exploring line, colour and form.
Well done, Year 5!
