Guidance on how to complete the spelling homework

• Name written on the sheet.

• Neat handwriting, written with a handwriting pen or a sharp pencil.

• Capital letters and full stops on all sentences.

• Words spelt accurately. (ESPECIALLY the focus spelling word!)

• Check with an adult that the sentences all make sense and use the word correctly.

As well as learning the spelling of the word, we want the children to become familiar with its meaning so that they can confidently read it when they encounter it in other contexts and use it in their own writing, when appropriate. With this in mind, we are also happy for children to use the Internet or smart speakers to get sentence ideas.
