The Coppice Primary School
Reception admissions 2023
Welcome to Reception!
Dear Parents and Carers,
I want to start by saying a big thank you to you all for choosing The Coppice Primary School and Nursery for your child and, by doing so, entrusting us with both their Early Years and Primary education. To have this trust placed in us means a huge amount and I want to assure you that we will be working as hard as we possibly can to ensure that your child achieves their full potential, both socially and academically, during their time with us. Without doubt, Nursery and Reception are where the vital foundations for this future success are laid, which is why we have invested so much in these areas of school in terms of both staffing and the physical environment.
Amongst our parent body, both current and previous, we a very strong, enduring reputation for being a warm and welcoming place which is often commented on by visitors. As a large, three-form entry school, we have always placed a great onus on ensuring that The Coppice maintains its caring, family-oriented ethos where your child is seen as an individual in their own right. As they are to you, your child is extremely precious to us, so we take the responsibility of having them in our care very seriously. Therefore, building strong relationships, both with your child and you as our families is something we pride ourselves greatly on.
Our school's ‘child focused’ ethos was very much in the forefront of our minds when, some years ago, the whole school community (including children, parents, staff and Trustees) came together to craft our vision statement of Happy, Confident and Successful Learners - Well Prepared for Life.
We always seek to instil strong values within our children which are based around the '3R's' of: Ready, Responsible and Respectful. We want our children to be ready to learn at all times and we place great importance on actively teaching them how to be both responsible in their conduct and respectful in how they treat others. A tangible example of this is that when The Coppice is partaking in inter-school events, there is a commonly held opinion across the district that our children exhibit excellent sportsmanship. In addition, our children’s behaviour and attitude are often positively commented on by our many visitors, teachers from other schools and staff at educational visit venues.
Without doubt, we are very privileged at The Coppice to have a fantastic staff that always works hard to ensure the delivery of a broad and balanced education for our children. As you will discover throughout your child's time with us, we have spent a great deal of time over the last couple of years crafting our new curriculum so that children get to experience a wide range of learning opportunities in a great variety of subject disciplines.
Through the many and varied opportunities that we provide, we aim to ensure that we leave 'no talent undiscovered' in our children and are able to confidently send them on to the next phase of their education knowing that they have achieved the very best that they can for them. Without doubt, over the years, The Coppice has proved time and time again that it has an exemplary record of stretching our children in both academic and non-academic areas.
In the final analysis though, we are judged by our academic standards and I'm very happy to say that our academic record, over many years, has paved the way for very strong judgements of the school by Ofsted and we aim for this to continue.
So that just leaves me to say, 'Welcome to The Coppice everyone!' and we greatly look forward to meeting both your children and you over the coming weeks and months.
Have a lovely summer!
