The Copley Quiz Bowl team travels regularly, beginning in September and ending in May with the National Championship competitions. We currently host two tournaments during the year to raise money to cover hotels, entrance fees and transportation. However, occasionally, students will be asked to pay a portion of the cost for our tournaments.
In order to keep costs down for participants, it is important that all students (and hopefully parents!) be involved in assisting with our tournaments. This can include reading matches, score-keeping, helping set-up food for our volunteers or picking up food from donors.
Each week, we will distribute sign up sheets for upcoming events. Once a student is signed up for a tournament THEY MUST ATTEND unless we are told two weeks in advance. We pay by the team for each tournament and if a student does not show up or changes their mind this costs the team money and other students that are going may not get to play either. We understand there may be extreme circumstances or emergencies. Please contact a coach if this occurs.
In order to keep you in the loop, the website will be updated weekly detailing the results and progress of our team. I also invite parents to sit in on practice, or to come to one of our events. The students work very hard to excel, and unlike other athletics, we get very little recognition for our success.
