"About Me"

Our School Mission

At ConVal High School, we have opportunities to grow and learn, both individually and as an inclusive community. We strive to be respectful and show compassion for others. We work to be creative thinkers and problem solvers who communicate and collaborate in an effort to take responsibility for our learning. As we build resilience in a safe school environment, we also commit to developing skills and tools to become civic-minded citizens.

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year!

I am very excited to meet and engage with you all the school year. I wanted to let you know a little bit about myself and open an invitation to anyone who would like to reach out to me with any questions or concerns. My name is Mr. (Sam) Winslow and I am entering my 14th year of teaching mathematics and my 13th year here at Conval High school. During my career in education, I have taught a majority of the courses offered by our math department including: Pre-Algebra, Algebra Concepts, Geometry Concepts, Algebra 1 part 1, Algebra 1 part 2, Algebra 2, Statistics, and Calculus. I recently obtained my Master’s degree of education through New England College with a concentration in mathematical literacy, I attended a training which focused on the foundational skills of proportional reasoning, and I am currently taking courses through Ball State University in order to obtain my certification to continue our Running Start program within our math department.

This year, my goal is to get all of us closer to feeling more comfortable, challenged, and confident in our educational experience. We have gone through a very rough patch over the last few years and now is the time to rebuild our confidence in our educational system. There have been many great changes over the summer and I feel our school is ready more than ever to start a new year. Above is our school mission statement that embodies our view of what our school community needs to be. Embedded in this statement are keywords that define our intentions: Community, Adaptability, Respect, Engagement, and Safety. Together we will continue to strive to be the best learning community we can be. Please do not hesitate to reach out about any concerns or feedback you may have throughout this school year.
