English 10 and ILS English

Fall 2022 Semester

Block 1: English 10

Block 2: English 10

Block 3: ILS English

Block 4: Prep

Welcome to English with me, Ms. Holcombe! This is my fifth year at ConVal High School, and it is my 20th year of teaching.

This fall, I am teaching two sections of English 10 and ILS English.

I was born in Washington, DC, and I moved to Milford, NH, when I was eight years old. I graduated from Milford High School (go Spartans!) and The University of New Hampshire (go Wildcats!) with a B.A. and M.A.T. in English Teaching. I have taught in a bunch of places and schools over the last 19 years: Fairfax County, Virginia; Stavanger, Norway; Rome, Italy; Washington, DC. I have also been an ice cream scooper, an antique shop worker, and a nanny. I love to volunteer, and I've done everything from playing bingo at a nursing home to cleaning out flood-ravaged homes after Hurricane Katrina.

In 2017, I had my daughter Louisa, and I moved back to New Hampshire to raise her near our family. Since then, I've been teaching here at ConVal (Go Cougars!)

Our Mission

At ConVal High School, we have opportunities to grow and learn, both individually and as an inclusive community. We strive to be respectful and show compassion for others. We work to be creative thinkers and problem solvers who communicate and collaborate in an effort to take responsibility for our learning. As we build resilience in a safe school environment, we also commit to developing skills and tools to become civic-minded citizens.
