About the Teacher

My name is Mrs. Hughes and I am so excited to begin a new school year! This is my twenty first year at PES. Where does the time go? I worked as a special education aide for three years before teaching first grade for the past 18 years. I think teaching first grade is the best job ever! The students are always excited to learn and it is wonderful to watch them grow academically, socially and emotionally.

I live in Francestown with my husband, Ken, and my dog, Cooper. I have four grown children; Kim, Kevin, Kaitlyn, and Craig along with four grandchildren; Emily, Camryn, Lexi, and Arya. I enjoy working in my gardens, reading a good book on my deck, sewing, shopping, and spending time with my grandchildren. This summer I spent two weeks at the beach on Cape Cod, one of my favorite places. A few of my other favorites are; chocolate chip cookies, dark chocolate and coffee. My favorite color is blue but pink is a close second.
