A great opportunity for your child to start their day by getting some fresh air, visiting with friends, and moving around the playground!

Arrival time is 8:20. Please do not arrive early as buses need to enter the parking lot. If you do arrive early and the buses are not here yet, please pull into a parking space and stay in your vehicle. Once buses have arrived, please pull in behind the buses.
We will be outside for about ten minutes each morning, to get our brains and bodies moving, to reconnect with friends and staff, and to allow us all to start together in classrooms at 8:40. Please make sure your child is dressed to be outdoors!
Please send your child in daily with a snack, water bottle, sweatshirt/sweater, and the proper gear for the weather.
Rainy day - Raincoat and boots
Snowy day/Cold - Coat, snowpants, boots, hat, and gloves.
Responsive Classroom Morning Meeting is an engaging way to start each day, build a strong sense of community, and set children up for success socially and academically. Each morning, students and teachers gather together in a circle for twenty to thirty minutes and interact with one another during four purposeful components.
The Four Components of Morning Meeting
Greeting: Students and teachers greet one another by name.
Sharing: Students share information about important events in their lives. Listeners often offer empathetic comments or ask clarifying questions.
Group Activity: Everyone participates in a brief, lively activity that fosters group cohesion and helps students practice social and academic skills (for example, reciting a poem, dancing, singing, or playing a game).
Morning Message: Students read and interact with a short message written by their teacher. The teacher crafts the message to help students focus on the work they’ll do in school that day.
Goals of Morning Meeting
Set the tone for respectful and engaged learning in a climate of trust
Build positive community by fulfilling students’ need to belong, feel significant, and have fun
Model and practice social-emotional skills
Review or practice academic skills or content in a way that gets students interested in the learning to come
-We will also incorporate Zones of Regulation lessons into our Morning Meeting time which will be used throughout our day.
Your child will work on reading fluency skills, phonics, spelling, and writing. This will be done through all class mini-lessons, small group work, literature books, chapter books, articles, and fun games. Consider the energy and intensity that often accompany the middle of the day. Lunch and recess provide students with opportunities to run, play, eat, and socialize, and teachers often see this energy spilling over into the classroom as students reenter for the afternoon. They often run into the room, bumping and shoving, laughing and talking loudly; sometimes they return upset about something that happened at recess or lunch. The energy can be overwhelming, for both teachers and students.
Quiet time offers an opportunity for students to transition back into the classroom in a purposeful and relaxed way so they are better ready for an afternoon of learning. Just 10 to 15 minutes of time to read, write, draw, work on a puzzle, or do some other quiet work can help children take a physical, mental, and emotional breather so they are more ready to engage in learning in the afternoon.
We will be using Illustrative Math. The 3rd Grade curriculum covers:

"What I Need" Time! The time is dedicated to give students extra small group support in academics or SEL learning and group activities to enhance the students' learning and growth.
The closing circle routine is a manageable way to peacefully wrap up the day and send students off feeling a sense of accomplishment and belonging. Like Morning Meeting at the beginning of the day, closing circle brings a sense of calm, safety, and community to students and teachers. The routine also helps students practice reflecting on what’s meaningful to them about their schoolwork, their classmates, and themselves. After a five- to ten-minute closing circle, students leave school feeling excited about their accomplishments and looking forward to the next day’s possibilities. - Responsive Classroom

Dismissal is at 3:25. If the buses are not in the parking lot yet, please pull into a parking space or pull around the parking lot. Once buses are along the sidewalk you may line up behind the buses. AFTER the buses are loaded, the pick ups will be brought to their car by a staff member. It is essential that we maintain our students’ safety, please help support us in this process by being patient, lining up, and understanding that this process will take some time. It is also very important to be on time, we know that life can happen and we do not mind staying late if needed, but please be respectful of the time. PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE HANDICAPPED PARKING SPOT even for just a minute or two, we must have that spot available for someone that needs it, and it is the law.
We use a digital tool called Pick Up Patrol for you to adjust your dismissal plans. Directions for new families will be sent home in the first day paperwork. If dismissal plans are going to change from the regular routine, all children must have information entered into Pick Up Patrol. Please remember to make these changes, and make these arrangements ahead of time. It is important that we have this information as early as possible in order to ensure no last minute confusion for children, staff, or buses. The end of the day is often hectic and you can help lessen that by making sure you and your child are aware of the afternoon plans ahead of time.
