About Mrs. Carr

This is my thirteenth year of  teaching! I have taught 2nd grade in North Walpole, NH, 1st grade in Oklahoma City, OK as well at Peterborough and Kindergarten in Edmond, OK as well as at PES . This will be my ninth year at PES (seventh in first grade here) and I am so excited to start another year!  I have loved every age group for different reasons. I can not wait to learn and grow with this wonderful group of kiddos for first grade this year. 

I have a spunky 10 year old son, Ryan, and a very independent and stubborn 6 year old son, Sawyer! I talk about them all the time in class. My husband Adam and I have been married for years and have moved all over the country together! We are so excited to be back in New England where our family is! When I am not teaching I love to be outside and spending time with my family. When we get a minute we enjoy hiking, riding all terrain vehicles through the woods and chasing around our crazy kids! 

I believe that every child has great potential to be a successful learner! It is my job to get to know them as individuals so that I can help them to be the best version of them. In my classroom, I use a lot of social emotional learning! I learned during the "Covid Years", that these skills are essential to student success. I incorporate responsive classroom practices, as well as some restorative justice practices. We also incorporate and use mindfulness skills, and direct instruction on social skills each week to help to develop the whole child!
