A good turnout again from both Stingrays and Kaust Sharks at the 2nd Aquathlon of the year. A whole host of best times set, and an impressive turnout in the Open Category.
We hope to see a bumper turn out at the 3rd and final Aquathlon of the year on Friday 2nd February.
A fantastic display of swim/run fitness shown by our Stingrays as 54 took on the challenge. Some very impressive levels of resilience were shown by our Stingrays in completing the different distances either individually or as part of a team.
The next Aquathlon will be on Friday 1st December.
A huge congratulations to our squad of Stingrays who took part in the 1st Jeddah Tribe Race of the Season. This race consisted of an 800m Run followed by 100m Swim and then finally another 800m Run. With the race taking place on our BISJ campus it was fantastic to see our Stingrays competing so strongly and enjoying the fantastic atmosphere. A huge thank you to all volunteers and to Jeddah Tribe for putting on a great event.
U8 - Malik Gomaa 1st (11:18), Hana Metcalfe 3rd (12:09), Taha Hechemi 6th (13:10)
U12 - Zakaria Hechemi 1st (9:24), Joshua Jones 2nd (9:48)
U16 - Archie Metcalfe 5th (8:35), Muhammad Abbas 6th (10:20)
Following the 3 week break it was great to see a good showing from our Stingrays, testing their fitness levels and pushing themselves to see if they could match or better their times from our first Aquathlon in November. Particular special mentions to Eleanore Noblet and Carlo Porqueddu for setting new course records in their respective events.
A fantastic morning saw 27 Stingrays complete the 4 different distances. While some chose to split the Aquathlon and work as a team, 1 swimming and the other running, others chose to tackle the distance sole and complete the whole event individually.
It was particularly pleasing to see a strong group of Y3 and Y4 Stingrays taking on the challenge, for most this was their first experience of a multisport race. The focus was very much on individual achievement, whilst times were recorded this was for the purpose of individual target setting. Hopefully we see all back for our next Aquathlon, alongside a few new faces, and perhapd ven a few parent teams involved as well!
