A Bit About Me!
Originally from Michigan. I moved to Texas in the 6th grade. I attended University of Texas Dallas, where I developed my love of teaching. This is my 22nd year to teach and I'm still going strong! My husband, Edward, works in oil and gas. We have a son, Taylor, who is a freshman at College Park High School. He will be playing the trombone this year in the C.P. Band. We are so excited for this!
I get to learn so much about my kids through conversations we have about reading and writing. I take the pieces that make each child a whole when working with your child. My teaching partner is Mrs. Kozak. We are looking forward to a great year together!
MRS. KOZAK

I am so excited to start another great year at SKR and I cannot wait to get to know all our 4th Grade Challengers! I am originally from Michigan, but have been in Texas for several years. I live in The Woodlands with two of my three children Cameron, Avery, and Keaton. My oldest son, Cameron, lives in Conroe and is in sales. He is a proud 2017 graduate of TWHS! Cameron is married to my daughter in law, Ashley. They have one daughter, Ansley Rene, who is a blessing to us all. My daughter Avery is a 4th grade teacher at Gordon Reed Elementary. This is her first year teaching! Avery is a proud 2020 graduate of TWHS! My youngest son, Keaton, is in 11th grade at TWHS and is 17 years old. He enjoys fishing, dirt bikes, and football. We have two labs that keep us very busy! Finnegan MacCool is our two year old Chocolate Lab and Molly Malone is our new Black Lab puppy! Our family stays very busy with school, work, and sports.
I am a proud graduate of Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Go Broncos!!! Before moving to Texas, I did some teaching in my hometown. After my move to Texas, I taught for several years in Aldine ISD at Carroll Academy and later at Lamar Elementary in CISD. I have worked with children of all ages, ranging from infants to high school. Being a parent of three children that have gone through or are currently in Conroe ISD, I can honestly say I love being in CISD and I LOVE being a Challenger at Sally K. Ride! This year is going to be a Great Adventure!!!
MRS. COOPER
Welcome to the new school year! My name is Mary Kay Cooper, and I am honored to be part of the Ride Family and our talented 4th grade team. This is my second year at SKR, and I teach the self-contained classroom. I love to create an engaging and supportive learning environment for all students, and I am excited to partner with you in this journey.
My husband and I were lucky to have our three children attend Ride. Our oldest son, Grant, just got married on August 8th. He and his wife graduated from the University of Arkansas and currently live outside Denver. My second son, Zane, is a junior at Arkansas and living his very best life. Our daughter, Mae, just graduated from College Park and is beginning her freshman year at Texas A&M University. We are excited to have an Aggie, and the SEC rivalry within our family is real!
I love to read, travel, and spend time with my family and friends. I encourage you to reach out with any questions or concerns as we partner together in your student's education. Thank you for trusting me with your student!
