SAC CAMP: Next Steps has been approved to offer credit for Math/ELA Enrichment hours!
Why is this important?
In accordance to House Bill 4545/House Bill 1416, students who do not achieve "Approaches" or higher on STAAR 3-8 or EOC assessments are required to receive no less than 15-30 hours of accelerated instruction(depending on the student).
Required enrichment hours can be gained starting the summer immediately after initial STAAR tests are administered and the following school year.
At Stockton Junior High, students who are required to receive these hours are assigned enrichment classes as electives. Depending on the need of the student, two of their four electives may be an enrichment class.
Because of our prioritization of academics, your student-athlete may not be able to participate in all the extracurricular electives that they want.
How will attending SAC CAMP:Next Steps affect my student-athlete?
With this approval for credits, student-athletes will have the opportunity to receive up to 36 hours of targeted, accelerated instruction by the conclusion of SAC Camp: Next Steps.
A student-athlete who completes 15 hours of accelerated instruction during camp will earn a half credit (semester-long) credit for Math or ELA Enrichment.
A student-athlete who completes 30 hours of accelerated instruction during camp will earn a full credit (year-long) credit for Math or ELA Enrichment.
By earning those hours, your student-athletes have an opportunity to have more access to extracurricular electives during the school day.
