Determine who participates in the Ready Academy. TEA requires all K-3 teachers, including special education teachers, and principals to attend. School districts and principals have discretion to invite additional participants on their campuses.
Develop the Reading Academy module content.
Set requirements for artifacts. TEA establishes all requirements, including the final rating process.
Rate the artifacts of learners on campuses they visit. Third party graders outside the district will provide ratings. The CISD facilitator reviews the artifact ratings and provides a final Reading Academy grade.
In the attached document, TEA provides guidance about the responsibilities of what they call "cohort leaders" for both comprehensive and blended Reading Academies.
In Conroe, we have expanded the "cohort leader" role into that of an instructional facilitator.
In Conroe, we also run blended Academies exclusively.
All "cohort leaders," and in turn all CISD facilitators, have to be certified through TEA to lead the Reading Academies at the campus level. For more information on the screening process, click here. Additionally, the ELA department in Conroe has produced a study guide for those preparing for the screener.
Below you'll see our pacing calendar for this year.
In addition to the module work, the facilitator hosts PDs and virtual office hours to help learners apply the content in the classroom in real time.
