Multiplication, Division, Addition, and Subtraction Facts
Students entering 5th grade should know their addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts with ease. Students should recall their facts within 5-7 seconds.

Decimal Place Value
In 5th grade it is important that student read decimal numbers using correct place value. For example the number 4.14 should not be read as four point fourteen. It should be read as four and fourteen hundredths. Students should be proficient reading numbers up to the 1 billions place and down to the hundredths place (two places away from the decimal).
Practice counting a collection of coins over a dollar. Write the money amount and read it as you would read money, then read it as you would read a decimal. Example: $1.30 would be read as 1 dollar and 30 cents. In place value form we would read it 1 and 30 hundredths or you can say 1 and 3 tenths.
Use these games to practice comparing decimals in standard form, pictorial form, and using money.
