Science
In third grade science, students learn that matter has physical properties that can be observed, measured, and used to describe and classify different materials. They investigate properties such as temperature, mass, magnetism, and whether an object will sink or float in water.
Students also explore solids, liquids, and gases and how matter can change when it is heated or cooled. They observe changes such as melting, freezing, evaporation, and condensation and learn how different materials can be combined based on their properties to create or modify objects. (Aug 17- Oct 8)
Social Studies
In third grade social studies, students learn about the structure and responsibilities of government at the local, state, and national levels. They explore how each level of government is organized, identify important government officials and how they are chosen, and learn about the different services each level of government provides to citizens and communities. (Sept 8- Oct 2)
