DC FAQ's

When you complete the application to Lone Star College, you will receive an email with your Lone Star ID number. This is very important for you to keep for your records. You can not sign up for a dual credit course without it. 

After you complete the application, Lone Star will email you this information. We do encourage you to go in and change your passsword to Stu+CHS Student ID (ex. STU123456). 

If you have applied to Lone Star and you have an ID number, you do NOT need to reapply.

It's required by Lone Star that you watch the pre-assessment video and you will NOT be able to take the TSI test without completing that step. If you qualify without the TSI test, then you do not need to watch the video. 

If you need to take the TSI 2.0 test, please see a Dual Credit counselor (Mrs. Barton, Mrs. Rivera, Ms. Park) for details. Please note that you are not able to sign up for the test until you have completed the Lone Star application AND the pre-assessment video.  There will be opportunities to take the TSI 2.0 at CHS this school year.  Students can also always go to the Lone Star testing centers.  (Conroe 936-521-4521 or Montgomery.)  Students are encouraged to call and make appointments for testing.

Students that receive a grade below a C will receive a "warning" with email communication that outlines the consequences of failing to maintain a grade of C or higher and resources to support the student's success.

If a student receives 2 or more grades below a C, the student and counselor will receive email communication stating that the student must complete an appeal form to register for dual credit in the subsequent semester. Students should submit the appeal form, including any supporting documentation, to their high school counselor. 

The grading scale for Lone Star College is as follows:

A= 90-100

B= 80-89

C= 70-79

D= 60-69

F= 60 and below

NO, you do not have to take the entire TSI 2.0 test. You will only take the ELA and Writing portions.

You will pay through your myLonestar portal. If payment is not completed before the deadline, Lone Star College will drop you from all Dual Credit courses and your counselor will then need to change your schedule. The fall payment window usually opens in July. The spring payment window usually opens at the end of November. 

Only students taking a Dual Credit course ON the Lone Star College campus need to upload this document. Students taking a Dual Credit course on the CHS campus may disregard this message.  

Lone Star schedules and bills all students for  DC Government in their system for 1st semester.  At CHS some students are scheduled 1st semester and some 2nd semester.  This all depends on other classes a student has in their particular scheulde.  If you do have DC Government 2nd semester and have paid, Lone Star will reimburse you once rosters are finalized.  

Anatomy and Physiology 1 and 2 are Honors 1st semester and Dual Credit 2nd semester.

You have to successfully complete DC College Algebra AND also qualify in Reading/Writing with your SAT/ACT/TSI scores.

Unfortunately, you are unable to do so. Students must successfully complete Dual Credit College Algebra before they can register for Dual Credit Precalculus. 

You will need counselor approval and will be required to pay full tuition. Summer courses are more accelerated than regular length classes because they are only six weeks long. Check with your counselor to see what your options are. All summer courses taken at Lone Star will receive 4.0 grade points in your gpa.

Yes, the reduced tuition that you pay as a dual credit student includes any required materials.

You must obtain an official Lone Star College Dual Credit Drop Form from Mrs. Barton. In addition, you must return the completed form to your high school counselor in order to completely drop or withdraw from the requested course(s). If you wish to withdraw after the "Official Day of Record" according to the LSC calendar, your college transcript will reflect a "W" for withdrawn from the course(s). "W's" for dual credit courses do not count toward the six drop limit. Standard LSC refund policies will apply. 

If you transfer high schools after the first day of classes, you will be dropped from your dual credit courses if the W date has not passed. If the W date has passed, please work with your high school and dual credit teacher to arrange completion of the coursework, if possible. 

Even though you may be under the age of 18, as a LSC dual credit student, you are still covered under the federal guidelines that restrict Lone Star College from communicating with anyone other than the student. Completion of this form would allow parents/guardians the right to access a child's academic records. FERPA does not require college instructors, advisors, or other college entities to correspond with parents/guardians outside the realms of the request. Alternatively, you may provide a copy of your tax return showing the student as a dependent in order to achieve access to academic records. While this document is not required, it is highly recommended.
