John SanGiovanni is an elementary mathematics supervisor in Howard County, Maryland, where he oversees mathematics curriculum, digital learning, assessment, and professional development. He is the coauthor of the bestselling Putting the Practices Into Action and the Mastering the Basic Math Facts series. Michael Dougan is a state Math Consultant at the South Central Regional Professional Development Center. Previously, he brought his expertise to the classroom through his work teaching secondary mathematics for a decade. He led curriculum, assessment, and standards alignment for multiple districts, but his passion lies in building students’ confidence in mathematics and communicating their ideas to grow and flourish. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and a Master of Arts in Teaching Secondary Mathematics from Colorado College, and enjoys traveling with his wife and playing board games in his spare time.

Gretchen Guitard has been involved in education for over 36 years, after beginning her teaching career in Tucumcari, New Mexico. She earned her Master of Arts in the spring of 1992 from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico and completed her Doctorate of Education from the University of Missouri - Columbia in 2010.
Dr. Guitard has served as an elementary teacher, assistant principal in two K-8buildings, principal, curriculum director, and Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development in two school districts in the state of Missouri. She currently serves as the superintendent of Jamestown C-1 School District. Dr. Guitard also is an adjunct professor for an area community college, working with students who are completing their doctoral degree.
Dr. Guitard’s learning journey has allowed her to experience leadership opportunities in both large and small school districts and afforded her the chance to work with numerous excellent educators. Her experience in working with adults continues to motivate her to learn new ideas and strategies for engaging students in his/her personal educational goals.
Dr. Guitard and her husband live in Jefferson City, Missouri and have three children.
Both daughters live in Dallas, Texas, and their son is in college.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood and Elementary Education as well as a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Special Education. I have been teaching for 18 years in an urban, Reggio-inspired preschool setting at the Julia Goldstein Early Childhood Education Center in University City School District. During my career, I have worked as a general education classroom teacher working with a mixed-age class of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds. More recently I have taken a special education itinerant position at the in which I push into other teachers' classrooms to assist in helping students with IEPs meet their developmental goals. Through this role, I have taken an active step in helping teachers be better able to group students for learning based on data and learning progressions as well as helping teachers document project work. When I'm not teaching I enjoy spending time with my husband, our two children, and our dog. I love reading, spending time outdoors, and traveling both near and far.

Caity is a coach with Desmos Classroom at Amplify where she partners with and supports teachers and leaders with implementing Desmos Math in their classrooms. Prior to joining the team at Desmos, Caity served Springfield Public Schools as their Secondary Math Coordinator supporting middle and high school math teachers with curriculum, professional development, assessment, and more. She spent several years teaching middle school math before transitioning to teach Algebra and Geometry at the high school level in Springfield. A former speaker at NCTM/NCSM conferences, Caity also enjoys her involvement in state and local math teacher organizations.
State Math Consultant, Agency for Teaching Leading and Learning (SW RPDC)
Stacey Maddeaux is a former special education teacher from Springfield. She has worked primarily with 5th and 6th grade students, but also tutors students from 1st through 12th grade, which gives her a unique insight into how to help students who do not understand math. Stacey became interested in the math struggles of multi-lingual students when she she realized that the struggles of multi-language learners is very similar to the struggles of the special education student who simply does not understand the language of mathematics. She's been researching and working with the ELL coordinator in her office to help develop strategies to address this underserved need. Stacey has a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education (K-12) from Missouri State University, and a Masters in Student Learning and Well-Being (EdPsych) from University of Missouri. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, going to concerts, movie trivia, and hanging out with her children.
Rhonda Hittenberger Ortiz, Migrant and English Learner Instructional Specialist for Southwest Missouri
Rhonda Hittenberger Ortiz was born and raised in Haiti, moving to the US to attend university. She began her career teaching middle school Spanish in Texas. She went on to teach English as a second language and French spanning grades preK-12 and university-level in public and private settings in Texas, Florida, Missouri and South Korea. Rhonda served as the Coordinator of the English Learner and Migrant Education program in Springfield Public Schools welcoming diverse groups of refugee and newcomer families where she built and strengthened partnerships with community stakeholders and developed streamlined systems to encourage family engagement and connectedness. In her current role as Migrant and English Learner (MELL) Instructional Specialist for Southwest Missouri, Rhonda advocates for inclusion and equitable access for English learners and families. She believes that well-equipped educators with assets-based mindsets and strategies have the will and the tools to foster student confidence and self-efficacy.

I am fortunate enough to spend my time learning with and learning from outstanding elementary students, amazing teachers, and fantastic adult learners!
