This qualification is designed for people working in or seeking to work in the construction industry. It is an important way for construction workers to show employers that they can be safe on the job. The aim of the test is to examine knowledge across a wide range of topics to improve safety and productivity on site.
The CSCS Operative Card covers a basic level of health, safety and environmental awareness. This test is required when applying for the Laborer card, the Trainee card, the Apprentice card, most Blue Skilled Worker cards and most Gold Advanced Craft cards. This card is valid for five years
The qualification covers safe working practices within the construction industry and all training materials, tutor support and assessments are included.
Our training programme is 2 stages;
SQA Health and safety in Construction Environment training and assessment
CSCS training and support from our experienced and qualified trainers and the CITB operative Health, Safety and Environment Test at an approved testing centre.
Please note that you must attend our training facility in Stirling for the SQA assessment and your CSCS test will be booked with a local testing centre.
On successful completion of both assessments, we will apply for your green CSCS Operative card.
There are 2 parts to receive your CSCS Green Labourer Card. The first part is to sit an SQA Health and Safety assessment within Stirling Community Enterprise Training Centre. The second part is a touchscreen test at a Pearson Vue Centre. This is where you will use your ITA (Individual Training Account).
Once this is received by Stirling Community Enterprise, you will be sent an e-mail requesting proof of income. This must be either a full breakdown of the most recent Universal Credit Statement, NIL income form or proof of payment from the employer.
Once proof of income is verified, you will then be notified of your date to attend the centre to sit the SQA assessment.
If you pass this, you will then be invited in to sit practice touchscreen tests and will receive support to book your actual test at Pearson Vue. You will need an ID to take the test, if this is something you do not have, a Waiver ID form can be completed.
Once you have passed both parts, we will apply for your Green Labourers Card.
If you are a tradesman and still have your papers, you are only required to sit the touchscreen test and obtain a blue card.
If you are not eligible for ITA, you can pay for training yourself by contacting us directly to arrange.
