Embodied Exploration
Embodied Exploration
The Department of Dance at Connecticut College is excited to present its first concert in a new annual performance series. Embodied Exploration is a concert of solo dance research. This evening's showcase presents work by Lara Beckius '24, Brielle Blood '24, Catja Christensen ‘23, Maddie Duval ‘24, Jocelyn Lewis ‘24, Maddie Oliver ‘24, Susanna Procario-Foley ‘23, Lexi Robertson ‘23, and Elisabeth Wales ‘22. We ask our audience to Zoom in with us to witness our students’ hard work in a safe and healthy way in these COVID times. The program will be presented twice on Sunday, March 14 at 2pm and 7pm via Zoom. You can find information for each dance on the Program Page and links to the performance on the Theater Door Page.
Through faculty-led community showings, students present work and receive supportive and honest artist-centered feedback. This process allows our students to discover their individual creative processes and artistic voices.
There are many aspects to dance as creative research: political, cultural, structural, abstract, narrative, commercial - the list goes on. We encourage students to investigate/discover/question their unique creative voices through dance, regardless of previous movement or choreographic experience. We are all creators/dancers with interesting points of view to be shared! The Department of Dance encourages each and every student in our campus community to take advantage of this new annual choreographic opportunity, no matter your level of experience in any and all dance forms.
Forge a new path! Take a risk!
Our goals for this new format are:
To foster the culture of dance as “research”
To support a body of dance that spans the interests of our student population
To receive feedback from multiple perspectives throughout the dance-making process
