In partnership with New London High School, Connecticut College's Holleran Center for Community Action and Public Policy, and the local community, the Horizons Beyond High School Summer Program provides access to all students and groups from New London High School that are underrepresented and under-resourced in post-high school educational and vocational settings. Through student-growth-oriented goals and objectives, supported by a targeted variety of workshops and experiences, these students will explore their post-high school educational and professional opportunities. This will be done through a two-week intensive summer workshop for rising juniors, held at Connecticut College. These students will be provided an overview of college and work possibilities and expectations as they look ahead to their eventual graduation from high school.
Our goal is to support New London High School students as they prepare for graduation. We aim to preemptively identify and address the needs and challenges of African American and Hispanic students by providing a holistic array of education, training, and practical support networks. Horizons Beyond High School provides a meaningful, transformative experience for New London High School students as they navigate their post-high school options.
