Connally Junior High Counseling

Welcome to Connally Junior High's Counseling page. This year our campus has the benefit having two certified Professional School Counselors.

First, this is Mrs. Brooker's third year with Connally JH. She remains the Crisis Counselor and Academic Counselor. She also has an emphasis on individual counseling for all CJH students. She is also the Campus Testing Coordinator and is a member of the campus leadership team.

Second, Mrs. Pricer is our Social Emotional Learning counselor. She was previously a classroom teacher on our campus, so, she knows our students very well. She goes into the classrooms every week for guidance lessons and is working hard to establish small groups to hold more meaningful conversations.

Individual Counseling

This is often a one-on-one visit between the counselor and a student when they need a quiet, safe place to visit with an adult. We use solution-focused brief therapy in most situations and equip students with the tools they need to be successful when they leave our office.

Group Counseling

We use input provided by teachers AND students to determine the types of groups we will run each school year. Students are interviewed and asked if they would like to participate in a small group counseling setting for a designated amount of time to address different social topics.

Classroom Guidance

We will make weekly visits to the classroom and provide students with a hands on learning experience on a variety of social and emotional learning topics. The lessons usually last an entire class period and there is ample time allowed for discussion and questions.

Academic Guidance

Throughout the school year we will visit with students individually and as a whole group to discuss their college/career plans and to help them set academic goals. We discuss their courses, potential career opportunities, and their high school endorsements.
