Mark your calendars for our Elementary Art Show for the 2024-2025 school year. More details to come!
Preschool has been learning lots of great skills needed to succeed in art!
Kindergarten started the year painting a line design with oil pastels and watercolor. They moved onto cutting and gluing together a shape collage, and they recently finished up their Hot Dog/Cool Cat painting! They just earned their first Free Art Day!
After making Lions with lots of lines, 1st graders stamped their own cities with paint. Reminds me of the building project going on outside the art room! They are now finishing up their color family flowers and are looking forward to their first Free Art Day soon!
2nd graders drew leaves with symmetrical lines, moved on to draw an apple still life using oil pastels, and just recently painted some delicious looking ice cream cones!
Our 3rd graders learned the difference between organic and geometric shapes. They practiced splitting animals up into small geometric or organic shapes, then cut out paper pieces to recreate that animal. Their next project involves drawing complex quilt designs using colored pencils! What they have so far is rather impressive!
Our 4th grade classes have been studying scriptures that talk about what a soul is. After learning about geometric and organic shapes, they created sculptures representing their soul - recognizing at the same time that a soul is not something we can physically see. Our color weaving project is coming up next!
5th graders just finished learning about 1-point perspective and are now moving on to recycling egg cartons into portrait sculptures. They just painted them and are soon moving on to make some Pop Art with fun color!
Once an elementary class reaches the end of their class value scale, they earn a free art day for their class! There are a few classes well on their way to earning this free art day. Students will get the chance to create with pipe cleaners, model magic, stencils, paint, and more!
