Formation Flight Craft: 

Robomaster™ TT

The RoboMaster Tello Talent from DJI is a next-generation programmable and swarm-ready educational drone with a expandable sensor module and an advanced SDK 3.0 for more programmability and customization. Marcus & Shreyas both developed an excellent swarm featuring this drone. 

Tello EDU

The Tello EDU, also from DJI, is a programmable and swarm-able drone with many safety features such as wraparound propeller guards, making it one of the safest drones to conduct an aerial drone show with. It also serves as a trainer drone. Shreyas & Marcus have used this in the MS - Aerospace CCA, with the Tello EDU being the backbone of the course.

Damoda Indoor UAV V2

The Damoda indoor UAV v2 are the core craft powering the Phoenix Hive swarm. With a fleet of more than 60 drones, Phoenix Squadron holds one of the largest research focused indoor swarms in China. This UAV is custom built with a specializd Pi0 and UWB reception unit for accurate flight positioning. 

Self- Designed and Built Craft: 

Triton  Echo 

The Triton Multirotor is an advanced UAS system based on a Pixhawk autopilot. It is capable of a 1kg payload capacity and has autonomous flight capabilities. It is currently in the early dev stage, and possibilities are many for potential applications including firefighting and autonomous property patrol, using a Raspberry Pi computer.


Triton Beta

Triton Beta is an advanced Quadcopter, featuring a librepilot based CC3D. The drone is a training copter and will be a less sophisticated version of Triton Bravo, as well as the proof of concept for the Autonomous Triton Bravo. Currently, it is baised of a modified DJI F450 frame, featuring up to 15 minutes of flight time. 

Triton Bravo

The Triton Bravo is a special heavy lift UAV. It's expected to be operational by the summer of 2021. When completed, Triton Bravo will have a payload capacity of up to 3kgs. Additionally, it will have 6 Ultrasonic & IR sensors, which would give the drone "ss-sense", making it fully autonomous, while featuring up to 20 minutes of flight time. Triton Bravo is currently capable of fully autonomous flight.

Triton Delta

Triton Delta is a YD-450 based drone, with an Arducopter based flight controller. The dimensions of the drone are in between Triton Bravo and Beta. The max lift of the drone is around 1KG. The Drone will be built by Aerospace Club Students in the the 21-22 session. Triton Delta features GPS, APM, 60A Dual ESCs, and a brand new ground-up carbon fibre frame. 

Prokyon Beta

Prokyon Beta is the main development drone for Project Prokyon: A fully autonomous hexacopter designed with versatility and industrial inspections in mind. It's one of the largest drones in the fleet, and fully made out of carbon fiber. Prokyon Beta carries a full Nvidia Jetson, 2D LiDAR, and Intel Realsense, making it one of the most capable drones in the fleet. 

Prokyon Bravo

Prokyon Bravo is a versatile platform capable of integration with leading robotics frameworks such as ROS and DroneKit allowing students to easily develop complex aerial robotics systems. It will be the drone PFL students use to develop complex aerial robotics frameworks, and will be the backbone of the PFL fleet. 

Horizon Heavy Mk1

Horizon Heavy is a octacopter designed for heavy lift applications with 6kg of payload capacity. Horizon Heavy will be used by Phoenix Squadron to conduct a aerial delivery of the Christmas star - stay tuned for blogs as development begins!

FPV Craft

iFlight ProTek - 35

The iFlight ProTek 35 is the Phoenix Squadron's go-to Cinewhoop. The ProTek 35 features a powerful and high KV motor array, as well as shocking speed, at almost 145km/h. It's expected to be used in Operation Phoenix Nest.

Beta FPV Cetus 

The Beta FPV Cetus kit is the Phoenix Squadron's number one trainer drone. Designed to withstand crashes, the drone has been used to train rookie pilots, and practice for Operation Phoenix Nest. 

Stock Craft

DJI Mavic Mini 

The DJI Mavic Mini is Shreyas's Personal drone. It is often used for aerial photography. During the 2020 Tree Lighting Ceremony, this drone was the main testbed UAS, which was later replaced by the Phantom 3 Advanced. Both pilots often use this drone to season their piloting and flight skills. 

DJI Mavic Pro

The Mavic Pro Platinum is one of the older generation craft in the Phoenix Squadron fleet. The craft features a reliable and long flight time, a compact design, and also a 4k camera. The Mavic Pro was one of the drones featured in the Christmas Tree Lighting. Shreyas was piloting it, and did an excellent job, as he flew above head, holding the poster steady. 

DJI Mavic 2 Zoom

The Mavic 2 Zoom has been the Phoenix Squadron's go-to drone for videography of aerial tests. The drone was first used in the preliminary test of the DDK ( Drone Drop Kit). 

DJI Phantom 3 Advanced

The Phantom 3 was also one of the drones featured in the Tree Lighting Ceremony alongside the Mavic Pro. This drone was operated by Marcus, as he excellently flew banners over the crowd, combatting the wind. Despite having been released in 2015, to this day the P3A is still in use as a very reliable drone, capable of carrying payloads such as posters and recently, drop mechanisms over assemblies.

Yuneec Typhoon H

The Yuneec Typhoon H is the first industrial-grade Hexacopter acquired by Phoenix Squadron. The craft features forward-facing obstacle avoidance and retractable landing gear. The drone is by far the safest & most reliable, featuring the ability to fly with 5 out of 6 motors. The Typhoon H has been used for aerial photography, and also lifting the DDK & dropping payloads, similar to the P3A.
