The Junior High Sports Journalism class is a student-led journalism program designed to give students the opportunity to tell the stories of Concordia athletics. Our goal is to take what happens on the field, court, and sidelines and share those stories with our school and community.

Throughout the school year, we will cover a variety of Concordia High School athletic programs, including football, cheerleading, boys basketball, girls basketball, softball, and baseball. Students will learn how to report on games, interview athletes and coaches, identify important moments, and write stories that highlight the accomplishments of our teams and athletes.

One of our biggest goals this year is to provide a written recap after each sporting event whenever possible. We want our coverage to be completed within the next couple of days after an event so that students, families, athletes, and community members can stay up to date with what is happening in Concordia athletics.

Our coverage will go beyond just game scores. Throughout the year, students will conduct player and coach interviews, create player spotlights, and look for the stories that make our athletic programs special. We will also cover important events and special nights, including Senior Nights, Homecoming, Courtwarming, and other special events throughout the school year.

This class is about more than simply writing about sports. It is about learning how to ask good questions, communicate effectively, meet deadlines, work as a team, and tell meaningful stories. Students will have the opportunity to develop real-world journalism skills while helping give Concordia athletes and coaches the recognition they deserve.

Our goal is simple: tell the stories of Concordia athletics and give our athletes a voice. Whether it is a game-winning shot, a big play, a senior being recognized, a coach reaching a milestone, or an athlete overcoming a challenge, the Junior High Sports Journalism class will be there to tell the story.
