Concord, MA: In cooperation with the Concord Free Public Library, the Concord-Carlisle High School is hosting the inaugural Young Adult Author Symposium (YAAS) on Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 10:00 AM-2:00 PM on the Concord-Carlisle High School campus at 500 Walden Street Concord, MA.
YAAS aims to recreate some of the success of the discontinued but wildly popular Boston Teen Author Fest which formerly served teens in the MetroWest and Boston regions. This free event hopes to similarly encourage tweens and teens ages 11-18 to embrace a love of books, reading, and creative writing. The event will be open to non-CCHS students and their families, as well as YA literature fans of all ages (with priority sign-up and access for teens).
The day’s schedule will include an opening panel with all twelve attending authors, two sets of breakout sessions on topics ranging from “Crafting Memorable Characters” to “Whodunnit? Spine-chilling Thrillers,” a lunch break with food trucks serving popular street foods, and a book signing for attendees to meet and chat with their favorite authors. Wellesley Books will be on hand selling books, and YAAS swag will also be available for purchase. A limited number of free bookmarks and autograph cards will be distributed to the first attendees.
YAAS organizers thank the Concord Education Fund, the Concord Free Public Library Corporation, and the Massachusetts Cultural Council for their generous support of this program, as well as Eshitha Rao, CCHS 2024, for the artwork and logo design. More information, including how to register and full details on the author lineup will be coming soon.
