The CCHS Alpine program is designed for both competitive racers and students who want to learn and have fun on the ski slopes. The season begins the Monday after Thanksgiving and continues until February Break. State qualifiers return for one more week to compete in the State Championships. All school breaks are off, and we usually practice Monday through Thursday, allowing students to continue their ski training up north on the weekends. Early season practices involve dry-land fitness, team bonding, and fun. Come January, we find ourselves on the slopes, with races usually happening on Thursdays, though sometimes we have to reschedule on Fridays.
The coaching staff was recognized as the Boston Globe Alpine Coach of the Year in 2025.
The 2025-26 season is shaping up to be a good one. After a strong year that included a 2nd-place finish in States, another Mass Bay West Omega League title, and numerous trophies at our All League race, we're hoping to continue our strong skiing success. The team is led by a pile of seniors, including captain Theo Remington, Jamie Poole, and Jakab Renyi, who all participated in the 2025 State Meet. Theo was named the 2025 Boston Globe Alpine athlete of the year. With more in the pipeline ready to grab a spot in the racing lineup, we're optimistic about the season to come and hope to make it a three-peat in the Mass Bay West League.
The women's team had a solid season of their own, making the playoffs and sending 3 racers to States. The team also made a statement, garnering four trophies at the All League Race: 3rd Women's GS, 2nd Women's Slalom, 2nd Women's Combined, and 2nd Team combined in conjunction with the men. With Delaney Remington graduated and skiing for Hobart William Smith, the women now look toward junior Juniper Flint and sophomore Julia Reynolds, both of whom made states last year, to lead on the scoreboard. Senior captains Sierra Fonte and Maddie Clancy lead an energetic group of skiers that have continued to develop and climb the leaderboard for the Patriots. The depth is only getting deeper as another strong group of freshmen are looking to make a case for race time.
Coach Brooks has worked as a Math Tutor at Concord-Carlisle High School since 2007. During that time she has aided the athletic department in multiple areas including basketball, the fitness center, soccer, softball, and even a touch of Nordic. Brooks was handed the reins to the Alpine program in 2020 and has watched the number of participants grow.
Prior to working at Concord-Carlisle, Brooks played soccer, basketball, and softball at Bates College, earning All-American honors in soccer. She then moved through the collegiate coaching world while also earning a Masters in Exercise and Sport Studies at Smith College.
Andrew went to CCHS in the mid-80s, playing multiple sports before Doc Furey, who created the Alpine program, convinced him to give up wrestling mid-season and join the alpine ski team. In his sophomore year, he competed for the league's "ski-meister" award by also joining the Nordic team. His love of ski racing took him to the Northwood School in Lake Placid, NY, and he then raced for St. Lawrence University as well.
In 1994 Andrew returned to CCHS as the freshman football coach. In 2012, he became the head Lincoln Sudbury alpine coach for two years, eventually becoming a volunteer assistant. When his son Drew ('24) attended CCHS, he offered to help Coach Brooks as a volunteer coach in 2021. He has his Level 100 certification but thrives on the opportunity to introduce young athletes who may not have raced before to ski racing.
Coach Flint’s daughter Juniper ('27) and son Henry ('25) have been on the CCHS Alpine team. He grew up ski racing in New Mexico and Colorado, and raced in college for Tufts University. He’s been a ski coach since 2013, obtaining his USSA Level 100 certification in 2017. He’s coached with programs at Nashoba, Wachusett, and ski camps in Colorado. For the last five years he’s been part of the U16/18 coaching staff for the Loon Race Team in New Hampshire.
Coach Marshall started his journey with CC Ski in 2020 and joined CCHS's staff the same year. His coaching experience started in baseball and unified track and his skills have transferred easily to ski. His abilities to work with kids, analyze video, and understand team dynamics have helped develop the program. Adding an EMT certification is a major plus as well.
Coach Skinner has worked at Concord Carlisle High School since 2023 as the METCO academic liaison, before which he was at the Concord Middle School. He joined the Alpine program in 2024. He is also an assistant coach with the football team and the faculty lead for the Black Student Union club.
