2024 Make-A-Wish

Concord Junior High

GRANTING WIshes is sweet!

In 1995, the staff of CJHS decided to expand their teaching of “philanthropy.” They were determined to teach the REAL meaning of charity, which is working for no recognition, prizes, or gifts, while giving unselfishly of yourself. And so, IT began. To date, CJHS has raised over $481,000 to grant wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions, thus making wishes come true.

The goal has not changed and stays the SAME TODAY.  The staff of CJHS, asks each student to give a little of themselves in order to help make wishes come true!

ABout MaKE-A-Wish®

Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work. The Foundation's mission reflects the life-changing impact that a Make-A-Wish® experience has on children, families, referral sources, donors, sponsors, and entire communities.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation® was founded in 1980 after a little boy named Chris Greicius realized his heartfelt wish to become a police officer. Since its humble beginnings, the organization has blossomed into a worldwide phenomenon, reaching more than 167,000 children around the world.

Although it has become one of the world's most well-known charities, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® has maintained the grassroots fulfillment of its mission.

A network of nearly 25,000 volunteers enable the Make-A-Wish Foundation® to serve children with life-threatening medical conditions. Volunteers serve as wish granters, fundraisers, special events assistants and in numerous other capacities.

As the Foundation continues to mature, its mission will remain steadfast. Wish children of the past, present and future will have an opportunity to share the power of a wish®.

Special Guest: tim Yoder

Mr. Yoder and his wife, Kathy, are long time members of the Concord Community. Both of their children, Katie and Jacob attended Concord Junior High and are graduates of Concord High School. We were honored to have Mr. & Mrs. Yoder Katie & Jacob  joining us for the opening ceremony.

It has been said Mr. Yoder bleeds green.  He currently serves as a member of the Concord Community Schools Board of Education and has done so for 11 years. What you may not know is that he is the father of a former wish recipient.

During the Make-A-Wish opening ceremonies on March 1, Tim shared how Katie's Make-A-Wish experience impacted not only Katie, but the entire family.
