The state of Indiana defines a high ability student as follows:
High Ability Student: In Indiana this is defined in this way: "high ability student" means a student who performs at, or shows the potential for performing at, an outstanding level of accomplishment in at least one (1) domain when compared to other students of the same age, experience, or environment; and is characterized by exceptional gifts, talents, motivation, or interests.
Concord Community Schools respects the unique learning needs of students who demonstrate or who show the potential for outstanding accomplishment. We will provide a continuum of appropriate experiences to nurture, motivate, and challenge these students to reach extraordinary levels of performance.
K-4 HA Programming
Kindergarten - Consultation as needed
1st Grade - General enrichment and/or consultation, 4-5 times a week for 30 min
2nd Grade - General enrichment and/or consultation, 4-5 times a week for 30 min
3rd Grade Math - Daily direct instruction of math curriculum and enrichment for 60 min, all math assessments, assignments and grades are from high ability teacher
3rd Grade Reading - Daily enrichment for 30 min (direct curriculum instruction in homeroom)
4th Grade Math - Daily direct instruction of math curriculum for 75-90 min, all math assessments, assignments and grades are from high ability teacher
4th Grade Reading - Daily enrichment for 45-60 min (direct instruction of curriculum in homeroom)
