Research
At Concoa, our commitment to innovation is grounded in a foundation of rigorous research. We believe in the power of knowledge to transform healthcare. Here's a glimpse into the insights that drive our mission to bring comfort to every corner of the healthcare landscape.
Expert Panels
During the design phase, expert panels were organized to ensure that the PRODUCT would meet the wishes and requirements from care organizations, care workers and patients / residents. To gain as much information as possible, multiple Expert Panel sessions were helt at elderly care organizations (Envida, Sevagram and Zuyderland Care) and hospitals (Maastricht UMC, Reinier de Graaf Ziekenhuis). Feedback was transformed into design iterations.
Customer Discovery Program
Before bringing another 'gadget' to the market, Concoa wanted to know what problems care workers are facing and whether the PRODUCT would be an addition to their toolbox. Here are the main findings from this research:

Paper: 'The Effects of Physical Contact on Patient Well-being - A Rapid Systematic Review'
As part of her studies Health Sciences, Denise Nijhuis researched the changes in physical and psychological well-being followig physical contact or hand -holding as an intervention in healthcare settings. Here are the main take-aways from her paper:
The conclusions drawn from the studies suggest that physical contact interventions can have positive effects on psychological and physiological well-being, particularly in reducing (psychological) anxiety and pain levels.
Overall, It is recommended to offer physical contact interventions to patients in stressful situations, and by doing so, taking into account their biopsychosocial needs and well-being.
However, the effectiveness of specific interventions may vary, and more research is needed to better understand the mechanisms and optimal conditions for these effects. Additionally, methodological limitations in some studies highlight the need for further rigorous research in this area.
