Oh, the places Mrs. Porello has helped you go! Recognizing Mrs. Porello’s 30 years of contribution to Comsewogue High School. We will deeply miss you here at Comsewogue High School.
Mrs. Porello has been a great help to students in Comsewogue High School. Her door is always open for anyone in need and she always makes sure to never let a student leave her office confused. She always makes sure that any student that walks into her office with questions, walks out of her office feeling stress-free and with all of their questions answered.
“If someone comes into her office she will not let them leave without an answer,” Mrs. Marrero stated.
Mrs. Porello has been around for many years and all of the hard work she does for the Guidance Department and all of her students never goes unnoticed. She has been an advocate for many students here at the Comsewogue High School as well. Students and faculty feel that she is a very important person for the school and is very helpful.
“She’s probably one of the most important people in this building for over 30 years,” Mr. Mosca said
Many students also feel that if Mrs.Porello was not here to assist them, then they would not have been able to finish nearly as much on their college application process as they have. Most students also feel that if they didn't have her as an assistant, then they would have not known where to start or accomplish the process without her.
“This would have been so much harder without her” “If we didn’t have her I don't think I would have gotten my applications in” Said Jake Epstein and Tiffany Quintero
Mrs.Porello will be deeply missed here at Comsewogue High School. Most feel that it will be very hard to find a replacement for her. “I think that it will be a very hard position for someone to fill her shoes,” Said Mr. Mosca

Have you ever wondered what makes a school’s chorus and drama program so successful? Well, the answer is simple, it's a combination of two things. The first is a group of dedicated students from the cast to the crew. The second, most important thing, is how the teacher runs the program.
The drama and chorus teacher here at Comsewogue High School is. Ms Stephens is new to the high school after coming up from the middle school and already, she is making major changes to the chorus and drama programs. Even though she is new to Comsewogue High School, she is already changing the drama program for the better.
When asked about her transition from JFK to CHS she said “The transition has been awesome because I get to see a lot of the students that I taught at JFK also students that I saw student teaching like your senior year right now and it's been really fun”.
Freshman, Ava Moschello has been doing stage crew for the shows that Ms Stephens runs ever since JFK. And is still doing stage crew in the shows this year like Chicago and Into The Woods.
When asked about how Stephens runs the performing arts class she said, “Stephens runs it very well with the way she does things.”
Another Freshman named Tyler Candreva has been a part of the shows that Ms.Stephens directs ever since he was in JFK. Tyler is involved in both Into The Woods and Chicago. Not to mention, he is also in her chorus class.
When asked about his experience with Ms.Stephens he said “My experience with Ms.Stephens has been great. She's one of my favorite teachers in the school. She’s really nice and I just love that she’s my teacher again.”
Sophomore Madison Gordon has been doing the shows ever since she got to high school last year. Also, she continues to be involved with the shows this year and is in Ms. Stephen’s chorus class too.
When I asked Madison about how Ms. Stephens was last year when she joined the program she said “She was very easy-going with all of us.”
Junior Luke Buck has been a part of the stage crew ever since he was a freshman and he is currently doing stage crew for the shows this year too: those shows being Into The Woods and Chicago.
When asked about what he likes about Ms. Stephens he said “She’s so accommodating and she just really loves what she does and I think that just shows with what she does because she does it with so much energy and passion”.
Sydney Schoettl has been doing the shows ever since she was a freshman and she was even in the shows before Ms.Stephens came to the high school, back when Mrs. Johnson was the chorus and drama teacher.
When asked about the transition from Mrs. Johnson to “Ms. Stephens she said, “Well, it has remained the same in the program now performing arts we are taking a more like college-level course which I think is very good because it prepares us for college if we want to resume theatre in college it like helps us for the field".

Mr. Sutherland from Comsewogue High School is mostly known for being a math teacher and a coach for Basketball and Softball. But, what people don't know is that there's a lot more to him than people think. He has changed the culture for Comsewogue and has made people become better humans every single day.
Sully speaks on how Comsewogue has impacted him, “From day one, this has felt like home, so much so that I now live in the district. My kids come here and there's no other place I’d rather be. It has allowed me to find out more about myself. Put me in situations where I probably wouldn’t have had the opportunity to do if I was somewhere else. Most importantly, It's allowed me to be me.”
People's lives are significantly impacted by their role models. That is precisely what Mr. Sutherland does. At Comsewogue High School, Mr. Sutherland has had a significant influence on people over the years. In addition to teaching math, he coaches Basketball and Softball.
Students who have been taught by Mr. Sutherland have been impacted in a way not many other teachers are willing to offer. He becomes more than just a teacher.
Kayla Nunez speaks on how she was personally impacted by Sully, “For all the years that I've known Sully, he’s given me space in school to feel comfortable enough to express myself. I had Sully my Sophomore year of Highschool, Sully always found a way to give me countless opportunities to stay on track and always made sure I knew what was going on.”
“Sully” has made people comfortable enough to come to him for anything. But that’s just one side of him. He flips the page when it comes to his sports. He is extremely passionate about Basketball and tries his best to get his team as prepared as possible. It isn’t about winning for him though, his goal is to make his kids become better men.
Hunter Marquadt and Sean Griffin speak on how Sutherland is as a person, “Outside of basketball, he does a lot for me. He’s like family to me, making sure I'm good and always checks up on me. He’s a great guy.” “He’s a really good coach, I've had a lot of coaches and he’s always there for me, he’s someone you can always talk to and he’s a good mentor.”
As a coach he is much different than how he is outside of sports. On the court he is going to push you to your limits and make sure you're always on the same page as him. On the field, his softball players do everything they can to win for Sully as he pushes them to become better everyday.
Hunter Marquadt talks about how he has been pushed to his limits. “He definitely pushes me everyday to become a better human and he makes me a better player.” Natalia Pashkin talks about how she was pushed out of her comfort zone. “He taught me how to be a really good leader by showing me his leadership and how I can apply that to the field myself.”
Everyone wants to leave a mark in this world which is exactly what Sutherland is doing. People want to be known for something and people want to leave other people with something to have forever.
Mr. Sutherland talks about what he wants to leave people with, “I teach my guys if there's one thing you own, it’s your name and I really do take pride in that. I get an opportunity everyday to show my guys what adversity is and how to walk to through it”
