We highly recommend that you read at least 3 different texts from the short stories, poems, articles/essays, and videos categories to be ready for your first week of school.  At Dominguez High School, we believe that reading is the foundation for success in high school and beyond.  If you want to challenge yourself, you can also read a novel from the list provided or something that is not on the list.

This year we will focus on the theme of Identity.  As you read, you should answer the Essential Question:  What factors influence our identity?

Identity is how we define ourselves.  Sometimes factors such as family, society, friends, culture, and life experiences influence how we perceive ourselves and others.  As you explore the variety of texts we curated for you, think about how that text answers the essential question.  

We will creatie a Summer Reading Committee so staff, students, and parents can join us in deciding our next years reading.
