The STEAM Lab Innovation Cohort professional development program is designed to engage Compton teachers in utilizing the new labs being built in each school. Through a 4 day cohort, teachers will participate in a series of hands-on workshops led by ASU, LEGO, and Apple. Teachers will learn how to engage with lab equipment such as 3D printers, AR/VR equipment and robotics as well as signature applications. Participants will learn how to facilitate lessons that motivate students to explain natural phenomena while enjoying activities that allow them to apply technology, science, math, and engineering skills in a 21st-century learning environment.
Drawing from what teachers already know about teaching reading and writing, the program helps educators engage specific facilitation strategies that improve a student’s ability to communicate their thinking, cite evidence, and build ideas through discussions.
