The purpose of the Department of Black Student Achievement is to enhance Black Students' achievement and access.The BSA Department is accomplishing this mission through the implementation of targeted interventions, progress monitoring, enrichment and professional development. With still more gains to make, CUSD is dedicated to changing the academic & access & career trajectory of CUSD's African Americans.

African American students make up 13.8% of Compton Unified School District's total student population. They have made continuous gains on the CAASPP, in A-G completion, high school graduation, college enrollment and college graduation. Additionally, the district has reported sharp decreases in suspension and expulsion rates. The journey to ongoing and increased success, continues.
