It is not often that we see a case about a missing person that brings joy to our hearts. Today, we celebrate Joniah's safe return while keeping her and her loved ones in our thoughts and prayers as they begin the difficult journey of healing.

While Joniah's recovery is a tremendous blessing, this case is also a reminder of the importance of taking every missing child report about a black child seriously and acting quickly when families report that something is wrong.

On May 26, 2026, Joniah was found safe. Police later confirmed she had been located alive; her recovery remained private to protect her and her family.

Joniah was just 15 years old when she disappeared from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on June 23, 2022.
