Through our curriculum, we aim to provide pupils with the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to navigate the digital world with confidence, care and common sense. We believe all children are entitled to learning experiences that promote balance, wellbeing, critical thinking and responsible decision-making in an increasingly connected society.
We support pupils in developing healthy media balance and positive wellbeing habits, helping them to understand the impact that technology and online activity can have on their mental and emotional health. Our curriculum addresses cyberbullying, digital drama and hate speech, equipping children with the skills to respond thoughtfully, seek support when needed and contribute to respectful online communities.
We place a strong emphasis on news and media literacy, enabling pupils to question, analyse and evaluate the reliability of information they encounter. By developing critical thinking skills, children learn to recognise misinformation, bias and persuasive techniques, empowering them to make informed judgements.
Relationships and communication are central to our approach. Pupils learn how to interact respectfully and responsibly both online and offline, understanding the importance of empathy, kindness and clear communication in maintaining positive relationships.
We also teach children about privacy, security and digital footprints, helping them to understand how to protect personal information and make safe choices online. Pupils explore how their online identity is formed and the long-term impact of their digital actions.
Through a broad and balanced approach to common sense education, we aim to nurture responsible, reflective and resilient young people who are prepared to participate safely, ethically and thoughtfully in the digital world.
