Our story begins with a childhood built around animals. From a very young age, animals weren’t just part of life — they were life. While most kids spent time with friends, I spent my days surrounded by our family’s cats, birds, and hamsters, learning their personalities and finding comfort in their companionship.
At nine years old, I brought home my first dog — an Australian Shepherd — and everything changed. I fell completely in love with the breed, and we spent nine amazing years together. During that time, I practically lived in pet stores, eager to learn everything I could about animals, diets, products, and care. As soon as I was allowed, I filled my world with even more small animals: fish, rats, hedgehogs, bearded dragons — eventually even breeding rats. I read every book I could find, absorbing knowledge like a sponge.
The Beginning of a Calling
When I entered high school, I already knew I wanted to become a veterinarian. So I worked hard to join a career-development program focused on veterinary medicine — and when I was accepted, it opened up an entirely new world for me. Our classes were held on a farm where we cared for every small animal you can imagine, plus 17 horses. The hands-on experience I gained there left a permanent mark on me and shaped so much of who I am today.
Around that same time, my beloved Aussie passed away. Heartbroken but wanting to continue sharing my love, I brought home another Australian Shepherd — a red merle who became my partner in everything. She went to school with me, joined me in training classes, and together we competed in 4-H, earning several first-place ribbons and even a third-place finish among kids my age.
Falling in Love With Grooming
During an externship, I was introduced to grooming, and I immediately fell in love. But the journey wasn’t easy — no one wanted to train me. Still determined, I started offering in-home pet-sitting and learned to groom my own dog. Every birthday and Christmas, I asked for better grooming tools so I could keep improving. I applied to grooming salons again and again, but kept hearing “no.”
I eventually got a job at a boarding facility that also offered grooming, and I told everyone I wanted to groom — but still, no one would train me. I was frustrated, but I refused to give up. I practiced on any dog someone would let me groom for free, and I’m forever grateful to the people who trusted me.
This lack of guidance sparked a promise in me: when I finally made it, I would make information and support easier for others to access.
Around that time, I saw a show featuring a mobile groomer, and I just knew — that was my future.
Finally Getting My Start
Eventually, I got the opportunity to fill in as a bather for someone who had the flu. Little did they know they weren’t getting rid of me. I learned as much as possible, they kept me full-time, and I got to work with incredible breeds.
They helped me find a grooming school where I tested out of everything except styling. I spent 15 weeks mastering coat types — even cords — and when I graduated, they asked me to stay and teach. I did for about a year before deciding it was time to grow even more as a groomer.
Building a Career — and a Mission
Over the next several years, I expanded my knowledge of grooming, dog behavior, and how dogs learn — two passions I combine every day to help improve the lives of animals. I learned about business, products, coat health, and the best tools for each breed and coat type.
All of this — a lifelong passion, 17 years of professional experience, and a commitment to continuous learning — is the foundation of this company.
