Supporting Communities to create Trusted Spaces for free digital support and learning.
We provide Community Digital drop-ins and workshops in these spaces run by Com2Tech and Re:Gear facilitators supported by Youth and Community Volunteers.
Skills development and advice to support the use of devices
Free maintenance updating of devices and triage of broken devices
Advice and where to go for extra help fixing new devices
The purchasing of devices for specific usage and skill levels
We collect working gadgets that support this like: Laptops, workstations, PC, Chromebooks, tablets and their peripherals (Monitors, keyboards, mice, printers ).
We facilitate the SkinnyJUMP Spark Subsidised 4g internet to connect these devices at low cost. Criteria for SkinnyJUMP are:
Families with children; Job seekers; Seniors; People with disabilities; Refugees and migrant communities; Those in social housing
We work alongside Industry organisations, Community and Social Service groups as well as individuals to help our communities obtain devices and work with them once connected.
We support our Communities to reduce their costs of maintaining their devices and gadgets when they have little-to-no technical knowledge teaching them how to do things themselves or with our IT trained volunteers devices for those unable to learn.
We facilitate community spaces where we support people to setup their new devices, triage their old devices, and teach skills to learn how to keep devices working effectively.
We help retrieve lost data and clean devices no longer needed. So members can either sell or donate their unused devices securely.
We also take devices no longer needed to reuse, repurpose or recycle within programmes
We facilitate community spaces where we support people within workshops to repurpose or recycle digital waste and some electronics into new things.
In our Harrow Street workshop parts salvaged from e-waste are available for enthusiastic engineers and tinkerers to repurpose into new and innovative things. We are running workshops for youth and communities to see what is available to create and design with.
Turning this waste into something marketable and saving the possibility of it ending up in landfill due to the cost of recycling.
