Van Driver Certification

Each coach is expected to complete the Van Driver Certification course. Ohio Law requires that a van driver who transports students for school sponsored events and functions be certified by the state. In addition, the vehicle must meet state criteria for student transportation. This means that school vans instead of personal vehicles are to be used to transport Columbus Academy students to school sponsored events and functions.

Van drivers must be certified annually and all coaches should complete this process prior to the start of their season.

Steps to become certified:

  • Watch the Ohio Pre-Service Driver Training Program and complete the test. The training program informational hard copy and test is located by clicking on the 'Forms' tab on this website.
  • Have an annual physical - you will be reimbursed for this appointment up to $20 or go to the OnSite Clinic for free. The OnSite Clinic location can be found by clicking on the 'Forms' tab on this website.
  • Complete and sign the "Request for Check of Driving Record" form, which can be found by clicking on the 'Forms' tab on this website.
