Brian Wagner

Brian Wagner has taught AP Calculus for the past 34 years. His first experience teaching AP Calculus AB involved developing the program at Harrisburg High School in Pennsylvania. For the last 27 years, Brian has taught AP Calculus AB and BC at Rift Valley Academy in Kenya. Brian also has 12 years of experience as a Reader for AP Calculus. He is currently a Calculus consultant for the College Board and has shared ideas, techniques, and strategies for teaching AP Calculus with teachers throughout Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

Inside the classroom, Brian loves those lightbulb moments when students see the beauty and connectedness of mathematics. He is also passionate about having students experience the joy that comes from accomplishing something they did not think they could do. Outside the classroom, Brian enjoys the proximity of the diverse fauna and topography of Kenya and sharing that love of nature with his students, from SCUBA diving on the bountiful barrier reefs at the coast to photographing the incredible variety of bird and animal life in his adopted home.
