Course Description
Students develop the ability to communicate information about themselves and the environment using simple sentences with basic language structures. Communication will be expressed in all four language skills; reading, writing, speaking and listening.
Objectives
Language Goals
Your objective is to move from your starting language level to the next highest language level by the end of the school year based on the chart below. At the beginning of the course you will complete a pretest to evaluate your current level and serve as a starting point for growth.
Tasks
Quizzes-Grammar, vocabulary, listening and speaking quizzes will be given periodically throughout the grading period
Tests- Grammar, vocabulary, listening and speaking quizzes will be given periodically throughout the grading period
Projects-will be based on classroom topics and are independent or group oriented
“Diarios”- Daily bellworks or opening activities

Class participation
Class participation is vital to learning a foreign language and therefore will be monitored and graded daily.
Rules
1. Respect your fellow classmates, your teacher and the contents of the classroom at all times.
2. Come prepared to learn everyday by having your binder, notebook, dictionary and all other needed utensils.
3. Outside food and gum prohibit oral communication and is not allowed.
4. No cell phones,or any other electronics are allowed to be VISIBLE in Sra. Hancock’s classroom unless I permit
Tardiness
Please make your best effort to arrive to class on time
Cheating
Any and all types of assumed cheating will result in a zero for the assignment and a call home.
Classroom procedures
A. When it is time for class to start please sit down quietly and begin “los diarios”.
B. Introduction or lesson and review will take place after the bellwork is completed and will last up to 10 mins.
C. Guided practice or group work will take place after the lesson.
D. review or study practice will be assigned daily for homework
