Meet the Teacher:

My name is Pia Vereen. I grew up in Columbus County and attended this very school. I graduated from South Columbus High School in 1996. I earned a degree in accounting from Southeastern Community College. I have a bachelors degree in Business Administration from NC Wesleyan. I will graduate from UNCP in December 2021 with a masters degree in teaching.

I began my career as a teacher with Tabor City Elementary School as a 4th grade teacher. Teaching is not just what I do. Teaching is a part of who I am. The lord has blessed me with a heart for children and a strong will to help them become successful learners. Teaching is my heart's joy.

Family means everything to me. I am married to Darrick Vereen. Together we have four amazing children. We have one granddaughter, Mia. She's my favorite person in this world.

My Favorite Things:

Animal: Dog (I have a German shepherd. His name is Rex.)

Book: What Do You Do With a Chance? by Kobi Yamada (I love this book!)

Hobby: READING! (I love to read. I read EVERY single day.)

Color: Purple (Purple means royalty. I am a child of King Jesus. That makes me royal!)

Drink: My favorite drink is French Vanilla Iced Coffee (Sugar-free)
