Schools that have visited Columbus

Accessing universities in Colombia is fairly different according to each institution. Some institutions require interviews while others are based almost entirely on tests. Many institutions however will require both tests administered by the university and interviews as well as the Prueba Saber (ICFES) though some institutions will also consider tests like the ACT or SAT. While each university has many different application forms it is easy to learn about their deadlines through university websites. Some universities also have unique alliances with the school that under certain conditions facilitate admission. You can find the link to many universities websites below as well as the current unique alliances enjoyed by the Columbus school with certain universities.

Prueba Saber (ICFES)

The ICFES exam of the Instituto Colombiano para el Fomento de la Educación Superior, is the university entry level standardized test administered to high school seniors throughout Colombia. The test measures basic level proficiency in various areas, it tests English, mathematics, sciences, literacy, and citizenship. Overall the school has done okay in the ICFES, however many people have done excellent in it in the past and preparation is optional.

The test itself is mandatory for all high school seniors, is administered in Spanish and is required by all universities in the country although it is not always considered an important factor in admission. The ICFES is also used to rank institutions, obtain scholarships and overall guarantee placement in many universities so it is expected that students attempt to study for it. Signing up for the ICFES is relatively easy and carried out by the school so seniors are asked not to worry about that part until they are requested information by the school. To study, ICFES provides online practice exams and the school has contacts with a Pre-ICFES group that contacts students to have them enroll and study for the ICFES.

Other Standardized Testing:

Colombia does not have any other form of standardized testing that applies to all students, however certain universities may require students an entrance exam that is typically difficult and requires students to study. Medicine is known to have difficult entrance exams in many universities, similarly public universities are highly competitive and heavily reliant on entrance exams created by each institution, students should research these exams on their own by visiting each universities website.
